About Us

Associated Towing is a family owned and run business that operates from workshops in Cranbourne Victoria, approximately 30kms from the Melbourne CDB. Our Company was established back in May 1981 by father and son - Alan & John Knowles.

Both Alan & John have been in the Transport & Repair business for in excess of 30 years. Alan owned and operated his own panel shop - Special Way Panels in Dandenong with small tow trucks to establishing a new adventure with son John. John started his journey with his Dad in the small tow trucks operating from Special Way Panels. From there he went on to new adventures working with accident towing outside of the family business.

In 1981 Associated Towing began operations in Cranbourne, with an F350 conventional tow truck which was used to chase car crashes in and around the area. Once the word started to get round there was no stopping this father & son team.

Associated Towing then took out a lease on a property located in Cranbourne and set up shop. The lease included a little old house where we stayed for approximately 13 years. The business outgrew these premises in the mid 1990’s and relocated to new premises - still located in Cranbourne. The new premises was originally set up for a transport company and had the advantage of a lock up workshop and lock up yard. We have been in this office for 2 years now and are looking forward to the future. Our aim for the future is to provide you, the customer, with the best possible service that we can - we want to be able to supply a service that you will talk about in years to come.

Staff

Here at Associated Towing we have 9 full-time staff. We have 2 office staff, who take care of dispatching all jobs and quotes, and 7 full time drivers on the road at all times.

JOHN - is a director who is fully involved in the running of the business and who will make sure that a truck is dispatched to you in the minimal amount of time possible. He has a hands on approach to making his business a successful one.

MARK - is one of our heavy salvage operators Mark drives the pride of the fleet - the Western Star Heavy salvage tow truck. Mark has been in the towing industry for nearly 15 years on and off. His aim is to make sure that when recovering your vehicle at an accident scene that the least amount of damage is done in the recovery process.

ROD - drives the new Mack Superliner heavy salvage underlift and is also involved in accident recovery work along with mark. He also assists with the trade towing.

ASHLEY - drives our T401 Kenworth tilt tray. Ashley has also been in the transport industry for 15 years. Growing up around his own parents business he too has knowledge of being off the road costs money. Ashley also had his own transport business running intestate in his own Cab Over Kenworth. He will get your vehicle or machine to its destination in the least amount of time possible.

BARRY – Barry has been in the towing industry approximately 10 years. Barry drives our Fuso which does a majority of our car towing along with the freight cartage for MIDDENDORP ELECTRICAL. Barry lives locally in Cranbourne and is on call 24/7.

WAYNE – Wayne is the operator of your new Mack tilt tray. Wayne is new to the towing industry and has fitted in quite well here at Associated Towing. Wayne has been employed with us since April of 2007 and often takes the truck home most days and is on call from the Pakenham area. You will often see Wayne transporting large Hummer Limos and transporting 2 cars at the same time on the back of this large tilt tray.

JOHN T – John has been employed with us since April 2007. John has an extensive history in the transport industry. John is the operator of our new Kenworth 604. John transports a lot of machinery for FORCE ACCESS and is capable of transporting anything up to 22 Tonne.

ROSZ – Rosz has now taken over the debtors accounts from Jodi. Rosz will also be in the office from time to time when other staff members take leave. Rosz is the person you will get a call from is your account has not been paid on time.

JODI – Jodi is our office manager. She is in control of the smooth running of the office. Jodi is in the office 5 days a week 9.00am– 3.00pm. Jodi is capable of taking all jobs that come in and dispatching them to the required truck. Jodi has been part of the Associated Towing team for almost 9 years.
